Afternoon Craft- the richmond gold rush
The kids have been so good, i thought i'd reward them with a little craft after school! Will and I were at Ben Franklin last week and saw these cute wooden treasure chests... and i thought it would be fun for them to paint... we even found rocks out side and painted them GOLD! They all had a fun afternoon...

While the kids painted, I told them a funny story from when I was little: We just learned about the California Gold Rush in school, and my friend and I decided to write a play about it! We needed props: my mom helped us paint rocks with gold paint. We set our stage by hanging large blankets on the laundry line out side... set up chairs... wrote our script... practiced, practiced and practiced.
Finally it was time to set the props and perform the play for my family. The play was about two sisters who rode in a boat (wheal barrow in our case) to an island where we find a treasure map and strike it rich by finding the lost treasure!! The last line of the play is supposed to be us yelling "Eureka!" Only thing.. when it came time in the play to FIND the lost treasure... we could find it. it was ...LOST. The audience still clapped, but to our disappointment opening night was also closing night for our play...
Caitlin, Sydney and Claire thought that was pretty funny... I told them i moved from that house not long after that...and the fake treasure is still in the back yard somewhere... they giggled at the thought of the new owner digging up and finding what they 'think' is real gold!!!

Red Quinoa Tacos
Next time you make my Delicious PURE TACO HEAVEN, substitute Quinoa (KEEN-wah) instead of meat. After following package instructions for rinsing and cooking the quinoa, simply add taco seasoning like you would to any normal taco meat, chicken or fish.My Husband said, "If i were blind, i would not notice that i was eating anything different... it's delicious!"
Love this healthier option!!

While Grammy was in town we had a little early Birthday celabration too! Grammy and Papa got Caitlin a Goldilicious Unicorn! (from the Pinkalicious books!!) This is the greatest day of her life... two beautiful Unicorns!!!
the whole gang... (also in the package from Utah was this sweet little monkey named Coconut! it's SO soft!)
Caitlin was chatting with Nans (Justin's Mom) on the phone and she was telling her about the awesome tent that they made. and how they were laying on the roof of their tent... and she stopped and said... "Mom, GO get the camera!" so this is me taking a picture for her... what i love most about this picture is that she stopped talking on the phone to turn her head and smile at the camera... Love her. (and my family room never looked so good. har har. time to do something with it.)
B came to see what all the fun was about!

Pink Bunny Slippers... YAY!

She was so silly and first put this outfit on...
... And last but certainly NOT least... CAITLIN received this darling book in the mail from Papa and Nana GREAT!!! It's the sweetest book about a not-so-average princess... that is just darling! DARLING! Reminds me of Caitlin!
Thank you for showering our little Caitlin with love on her special day... there's no doubt that this one is loved!! WE LOVE YOU ALL... more birthday celebrations coming soon!!! Monday's the BIG DAY!!!
