10 years ago today...

my life changed, for the better... I met and fell in love with the man of my dreams!

Although, it really didn't go how I had planned... still makes for a good story. Let's let the ME of 2000 tell you that story- Taken directly from my Journal:

September 29, 2000

Today was our Southern Virgina College choir social at the Spees house! I’ve really been looking forward to this party to get to know a few people in the choir, one in particular! He and another girl in the choir were in charge of getting things ready for this ‘social’. When Dr. Bradshaw announced ‘who’ the two new social event planners would be… he said to the two of them, in front of the whole choir… “Be careful, the last two I pared up ended up getting married!” (there were a lot of Ooos and Awwws!) (oh, please!) I had noticed him a few weeks ago… and right then and there I thought… “He’s not going to marry her!” I didn’t even know his name, but I was going to find out who he was!

I went to Wal-Mart with some friends of mine, to get something to bring to the party. Perfect: a Pound Cake! So, looking cute as ever, seeing as I would try to real in my husband-to-be… I carried my pound cake across the large field to the ‘off campus/on campus’ house! Justin was the R.A. for the Spee’s house and that’s why the social was there. When I arrived I noticed him right away… he was battling some wild flames on a pretty scary grill on the front porch, sweating like CRAZY!

I thought, “Ooh here’s my chance… I walked in the house set my goods on the table… and walked outside to see him struggling with a spatula and more flames, flipping burgers and hot dogs. I went up to him and said “Hi! I’m Amanda! You look like you could use a drink? Can I get you one?” He wiped his brow with a towel, and didn’t even look at me… and said “No Thanks, I’m good!”

Wow. He didn’t even look at me!? ouch.

Later I ran into someone who was telling us that we need to write down our most embarrassing moment down on a card… it was to be used later for a game. I was having trouble remembering one… but wrote down something anyway and handed it to Justin! It was time to play the game… and I sat there thinking ‘Ooh, he’s going to read mine, and I’m going to get so embarrassed’… But my card was the only card he didn’t read! I was so bummed that he didn’t read mine, I really wanted the chance to get up and play the game… and then have something to talk to him about after!

Right before we were about to leave the social, he was talking to a group of my friends… I jumped in and they were talking about eye color… I remembering Justin looking over to me, and said, "Wow, you have a really interesting color of eyes… they’re pretty… "(I was pretty much drooling inside!) and then my buddies skipped off to get ready for the 80’s dance, so i followed!

Sara and I have been really exited for this dance. We went to Good Will to find the wackiest 80s clothes we could find. Actually it was quite scary! And after we were all ready, we walked on down to Chandler! We met some buddies in Main, and then walked through the ballroom and down the little hallway, where there is another door for people to come in… and Who walks in right as we are coming down the hall… Justin, Travis, Trent and a few ‘baseball’ buddies… One look and I thought I’d die… Justin did a double take and made a weird face… and then looked away! He saw me… Dressed like a wacky 80’s wanna-be… it wasn’t even ‘cute’ or ‘nice looken’ 80’s! oh, the whole night I wanted to run up to him and say… DANCE WITH ME!!… but I looked like a weirdo… so I just watched him from a far… he was with a group of girls… one he danced with a few times during the slow songs… (I just kept thinking… she better be enjoying this why she can, because that’s my husband she’s dancing with!)

Anyway, I felt like a dork. But at least I had a good time with my buddies!

Sara Boo and Amanda Panda decked out! Yaoww-saaaah!

...To Be Continued... WHAT HAPPENED NEXT???

Skool Newz.

The first week of school, Caitlin learned all about School Safety, They made this the day they talked about Bus Safety...
2nd week of school they talked about Nursery Rhymes! Caitlin can resight "Humpty Dumpty", "Little Miss Muffet" and "Hickory Dickory Dock" So cute!

Also, Mom and Dad are getting an education as well! Have you ever learned the history behind Humpty Dumpty?

Zelo.com:
From the East Anglia Tourist Board in England:

"Humpty Dumpty was a powerful cannon during the English Civil War (1642-49).
It was mounted on top of the St Mary's at the Wall Church in Colchester defending the city against siege in the summer of 1648. (Although Colchester was a Parliamentarian stronghold, it had been captured by the Royalists and they held it for 11 weeks.) The church tower was hit by the enemy and the top of the tower was blown off, sending "Humpty" tumbling to the ground. Naturally the King's men* tried to mend him but in vain."
* NB: The "men" would have been infantry, and "horses" the cavalry troops.

SO COOL! Here's Caitlin's Humpty! (a few weeks ago, I taught her how to draw flowers... so, it totally made me SMILE to see Humpty's hat!)

This week Caitlin's class will be talking about their families! Caitlin's teacher puts together a photo album of her kids each year and then keeps it in the reading center. She said the kids LOVE looking at the pictures of themselves and of their class mates!! It's also a fun way for her to remember all her students as the years go by! Below, is what Caitlin's (front and back) pages look like.

last week...

Thursday, I watched my friends' darling kids; she had an Orthodontist appointment... Caitlin and Will were SO excited to have friends over... This picture below shows them watching Tom and Jerry... their faces say it all... Good times! (it was funny, at one point the neighbor kids were over too... so, there were 9 kids... plus a dog and a cat... Just call us the party house! haha!)
Thursday night was Back to School night... Justin took the kids to Young Men's so i could go to the school... as the kids were leaving the church, Caitlin saw a frog! She said she wanted to go back and catch him and put him in this small cooler and keep him forever and ever. So, she's been lugging around the cooler all weekend, and even brought it to church to try and find Mr. Hopper. No luck.

I saw this hair-do on a little girl at church, and though i'd try in on Caitlin. It held up... except the flower didn't make it home with her... (bummer) It's probably lost on the play ground somewhere.
I think Dodger was trying to tell me he wanted to go to school with Caitlin, or maybe since there's a kitty on the back pack he thinks it's his?! Silly cat.
Will, Brinley and I live for Fridays- our favorite day for a picnic with Daddy at the park!

Sushi Friday!
This picture was take a few weeks ago... Brinley sat in this little bag and was just SO content. what a cutie!

Preschool!

Wednesday was Will's first day of preschool! He's waited so long for this day... When he got up in the morning I said, "Will, you get to go to school today!" he looked at me (so excited) and said... "Oh, do i get to ride the preschool bus?" (days like this, i wish our pilot was yellow... just to make this little guy's dream come true...)

But that got me thinking... NEXT YEAR- I'll have both Caitlin and Will off to school... on the bus... (oh, i think i feel my heart breaking a little, Are our babies really growing up this fast!!??) Please stay little as long as you can...

First day of preschool picture!

Little Sister, Brinley (I was trying to get them to stand next to each other... that didn't happen.)
Will's Preschool:

waiting for the doors to open!

playing...

Brinley REALLY wanted to get out and play too...
After dropping will off at school, I went visiting teaching... and the most amazing thing happened when i got out of the car ... i saw an ALBINO SQUIRREL! It was amazing... (obviously, this is not a picture i took...) i tried to grab my camera fast... but it was already gracefully gliding across the street and up some trees... But it was SO cool... (and Lucky, i hear!) My friend said that there are a family of albino squirrels that live in her neighborhood. So, on a good day... she'll see like 5 at one time!
Pick up after preschool was fun, Will had a great first day... Briggs, Berkley (twins) and Isabelle (all from church) are in his class too! What fun!
the roller coaster swing! ha!
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Will ran up here... climbed up and said... "Look Mommy, I'm Jonny!"

So, a few times a week- it's just ME and BRINNERS... what fun!
